It's Beginning To Look A lot Like Fall!

It's that time again! A cool breeze is taking over, the leaves are just starting to change a little bit and that feeling of halloween seems to be on it's way!!!

I love this time of year, it's so beautiful and it just reminds me of good family times. We play Frank Sinatra and eat dinner a little bit earlier. It's just a great time of year all around.

I know halloween will be here in a month and a half and all of the high school football games are starting to play. We will be making a scarecrow soon to hang up in our lawn and go apple picking to make apple pie!

Please enjoy this time and take a moment to just take it all in and relax!

What are your favorite fall traditions?

Naturalistic Observation

Ok so it's been a while (I promise to not go that long with out writing again but the last of summer was VERY busy) but I'd like to start on a new topic.

Naturalistic Observation...who's heard of it?

It is a study in the psychology world of human behavior, or any behavior for that matter. It seems to be the most sincere way to gather information on anything. This is something we do everyday without realizing it! It is very similar, if not the exact same as, "people watching."

What you do is sit back and observe people, animals, children, whatever it is you're studying and just watch. That's it! Just watch what they are doing and take notice to it.

These objects you're studying cannot know you are studying them, it has to be in a natural environment with natural feelings and actions. Due to this, they will act instinctively and you will get truthful results!

There can be no interacting; you can not fix the toy your child broke or pick up the newspaper someone dropped (sounds harsh in these situations) but this way you can see reactions.

In this study, there is not always an end result because if nothing is happening there can still be no interference to try and intrigue it.

I thought this was pretty awesome that it was an actual study and it's something you can do sitting in your back yard, watching the blue birds or the squirrels run up the tree!

Pretty neat, huh? What do you guys think???

The Cure of Nature

The other night I decided to sit outside and take in the sights of nature. So I sat on my porch and started looking around at my garden; bees were landing on flowers, the wind was blowing over the rose bush and the clouds were really essential to the light blue sky.

I was having a really stressful day and nature was surprisingly calming my nerves. When I stepped outside, I only really wanted to get away from it all and just clear my mind but it was so relaxing to just sit and watch nature take it's course.

Next to me, I saw Silver Dollar Plants (also known as the "Honesty Plant") and decided to pick their round disks and release their seeds. How beautiful this transparent plant became as I released the rest of the seeds into the soil for more to grow. These plants turn into such beautiful purple flowers as they grow in gardens.

Looking at the garden, I saw beautiful colors of light pinks, whites, purples, and green of course. The flowers and plants were all complimenting each other to create a vibrant scene.

I never thought when I went out to sit on my porch that I could get such a great amount of relaxation by enjoying nature. All of my anxiety was gone and life was good again.

Anyone else have any relaxation techniques?
